Crispy Green Beans

Last night for date night, which we have every Wednesday, we went to P.F. Chang’s.  I have been sort of trying to watch what I am eating now for three reasons: cholesterol, GERD, and to lose weight.  On date night I usually eat somewhat bad for me and last night was also the last day of my GERD prescription so we decided to go with the appetizer of Crispy Green Beans.  I knew what I was getting into with the Crispy Green Beans and I was okay with it…or so I thought.  I expected them to be battered and fried, what I didn’t expect was the sauce that accompanied them.  We tried it and it was spicy.  I don’t normally like spicy foods but there was something about this sauce.  The more we ate the better it tasted and it was good from the beginning.  We successfully ran through the small container of sauce before finishing the green beans.  It was that good.  I decided later to look at P.F. Chang’s website to check out the nutritional damage that occurred and I couldn’t believe what I found.  The Crispy Green Beans were 500 calories and 28 grams of fat.  Fair.  THEN I saw the next line on their nutritional information sheet which listed “with Crispy Green Bean Sauce add” 451 calories and 48 grams of fat.  Unbelievable.  I need to find out what was in that sauce.  Mayo mixed with oil and butter?
